If you own or run a natural food cafe, designing a menu may be one of your biggest struggles. With limited all-natural ingredients available, it can be tough to concoct more than three or four dishes that customers will love. But there is an easier way to go about this. You can include just three or four main dishes on your menu — but with so many options for customization that almost anyone can find and design a meal they enjoy. Here are some exciting options to include.

1. Smoothies

Smoothies are a lovely choice for any natural foods cafe menu because you can add almost anything to them. An easy way to include smoothies on your menu is to offer a base of frozen banana and orange juice and then let customers choose their own additional ingredients. Good choices you may want to keep in stock are spinach, kale, strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter, chia seeds, and flax seeds. If you have it on the restaurant already, there's no harm in putting it on the list of smoothie options.

2. Flatbread Pizzas

If you serve lunch at your cafe, consider putting a flatbread pizza on your menu. You can use an oat-based, gluten-free crust as this will appeal to most customers — those who can eat gluten, and those who cannot. Then, all you need is a long list of ingredients customers can have added to their custom flatbread. Goat cheese and mozzarella are both more natural kinds of cheese that you can offer. Chopped peppers, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, and spinach are other good choices. You may or may not want to offer meat-based toppings. It can be expensive to buy all-natural, humanely raised meats, and most customers will be perfectly happy without any meat on their pizza if the other toppings are fresh and delicious.

3. Green Salads

Green salads are fresh, natural, and easy to make. You can offer a default base of mixed greens and let customers choose their own toppings. You can even set up an open salad bar during busy hours, limiting the amount of work your employees need to do behind the counter. Make sure you include some protein-rich toppings such as beans, tofu, and free-range eggs so that people can make their salads a more filling meal.

If you keep your menu simple but allow customers to customize everything, your natural foods cafe will soon become popular! Keep it simple; keep it delicious.
